Duke of Edinburgh Award applications open

28 Sep

We are delighted to welcome applications for the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards scheme from our students this week. Three assemblies will take place opening the Bronze scheme to Year 9 students, the Silver scheme to Year 10 and 11 students, and the Gold scheme to year 12 and 13 students. Over 1000 students have achieved a DofE Award at Cheltenham Bournside School to date and have benefited from a wide, rich set of experiences. More on those coming soon!

Through a DofE programme, our students can have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem, and build confidence. Students can gain essential skills and attributes for work and life, such as resilience, problem solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs and university and job applications. Top employers recognise the work-ready skills Award holders bring to their business.

There are four main sections of each DofE programme:

  • Volunteering
  • Physical
  • Skills
  • Expedition
  • + Residential (Gold Award only)

All students are eligible to apply to take part in the Award. Applications will be available at each assembly and from the main school office.
