NCS Champion School

Earlier today we welcomed Nikki and Danni, on behalf of the National Citizen Service (NCS), to year 12’s assembly as they were here to award the school with the privilege and status of being an NCS ‘Champion School’ for their involvement last year!

The NCS is a youth programme that aims to build both the confidence and skills of students aged 15 to 17 to help them towards their future goals – it is also highly desirable on your UCAS application and can also add to your CV! The scheme is held over four weeks during the summer break and involves skills development, a variety of physical activities to participate in and also two weeks to work on, what they call, a “social action project.” The NCS award the Champion School status each year to various schools and colleges across England who have “excelled in promoting the programme and recruiting young people to take part over the last academic year.”
