Houses of Parliament visit

On Thursday 21st of September, 37 Year 13 students of Economics, Law, Politics and/or History visited London with Miss Hanley and Mrs Hemsley to understand further the work of the Supreme Court and the Houses of Parliament.

Westminster Hall – the oldest part of the building.

At the Supreme Court they visited the courtrooms and learnt more about the work of the highest court in the land including the cases that had recently been heard there including those involving Brexit. After this they walked across Parliament Square to Parliament and firstly had a tour of the Houses and the Queens Rooms – they were able to do this as part of Parliament’s Schools programme that happens when Parliament is in recess.

After their tour they engaged in a one-hour workshop on Representation and Voting, learning more about their rights as voters and about alternative voting systems. A great day was had by all.
