It was a wonderful atmosphere at Bournside this morning where students eagerly awaited the collection of their GCSE results.
Headteacher, Gareth Burton, said “Once again, I am extremely proud of our students, who have succeeded in achieving some amazing GCSE grades, which will support them in making the next step in their education, for many of whom, this will be here at our sixth form. Given that this is only the second full year of the new GCSE qualifications, students have done tremendously well to equip themselves to face the demands of the new, more rigorous qualifications. Equally, the success of our students is also testament to the hard work and dedication of their teachers and support staff, who give tirelessly of themselves.”
“I was particularly pleased with the improvements in mathematics; both in the proportion of students achieving grade 4 and above and also the proportion of students achieving grade 5 and above. This improvement is a great foundation on which to build further progress and comes shortly after the opening of the school’s multi-million pound Alan Turing Maths Hub, which provides our students and teachers with a first-class environment to support their achievement in this key subject.”
“It is great to see so many staff and parents here at school this morning to share in the success of our students.”
“We anticipate the large majority of our students remaining with us next year, to study in our large and successful sixth form, which offers over 30 different A Levels and other qualifications. If you would like further information regarding securing a place at our sixth form for September 2019, please contact Lisa Cullen (firstname.lastname@example.org or 01242 235555) who will be able to respond to your query and if necessary, book an appointment with one of the sixth form team over the coming week.”
