Sixth Form
Cheltenham Bournside School has the largest school-based sixth form in
Gloucestershire. Students may choose from 37 subjects at AS/A2 or the
International Baccealeureate Diploma. English Language and Maths GCSE re-sit
classes are available to any student who does not achieve at least a C grade.
Full details of all our courses, complete with entry requirements and career
possibilities may be found either in the 2010-11 Sixth Form Prospectus and
Course Guide available from the school, or simply by clicking on the link at the
bottom of this page. The Sixth Form continues to have an excellent reputation
that attracts a huge diversity of talented young people, well over 100 from
other schools around the county every year, and around 175 of our own students.
The Student Committee, elected by their peers, have held and are planning a
wide variety of activities to raise money for charity, including the annual
Fashion Show and the events of Children in Need week. So far during the 2009-10
academic year over £2500 has been raised.
The World Challenge expedition Vietnam in 2009 was a huge success. Plans for
the next expedition, to Brazil in July and August 2011, are well advanced and
other recent extra-curricular visits have included whitewater rafting in the
Italian Alps, skiing in Austria and going behind-the-scenes at the United
Nations in Geneva.
The annual Sixth Form Awards Ceremony was recently held in the Main School
Hall in December and was a lovely evening of prize-giving and reminiscing,
welcoming back many successful students from the ‘Class of 2009’.
