Beatrix’s Cricketing Accomplishments

Beatrix met with the Headteacher last week to be congratulated on her recent sporting achievements outside of school.

She has long been a fan of Cricket and began playing whilst still at Christ Church C of E Primary School, being particularly inspired by her elder brother Benedict who is also an avid cricket player and former pupil here. She recently received two awards in light of her efforts, of which were the Charlton Kings Cricket Club’s Youth Player of the Year on the 2nd October, and the Gloucestershire Cricket Club Girls’ Under 13s Player of the Year on the 28th September. When asked why she thinks she received these awards, she commented that, “I just think that it’s down to my commitment and also performance within the games that I’ve played.” – which shows. Beatrix was nominated for the Charlton Kings award but was talent-spotted by her coach for the Gloucestershire Cricket Club award – a very big feat for her!

A typical week for Beatrix is a very busy one, consisting of a training session once a week, followed by a match later that week whilst also training here at school too. She’s also involved in various county matches through the school holidays, involving opponents from all across the country including teams in Devon and Wales. She plans to take PE for GCSE and, when asked what her future aspirations are, she wants to stay within the county system and see where cricket takes her but would consider being a sports coach if she wanted to try something new.

Mr Burton commended Beatrix for this fantastic achievement and thanked her for sharing more about it with him.
